KETS Channel 2/AETN Expected to Return to Air by Month's End
"We have purchased an analog transmitter and antenna, and they're ready to be placed at our digital site," AETN Executive Director Allen Weatherly said. "A structural analysis of that tower is underway to assure that the antenna can be safely installed at approximately 900 feet.
"As soon as the analysis is complete and a tall tower rigging crew is available, everything will be installed to return KETS to the air."
Weatherly noted that the analog KETS will be operating on an emergency, lower power configuration to reach as many viewers as possible until the full digital conversion on Feb. 17, 2009. The reach of the new transmitter has not yet been determined, which leaves the potential for some viewers to be without access to AETN. However, anyone who watches over the air would still be able to watch AETN's digital broadcasts on a digital television. Viewers in Southeast Arkansas are encouraged to tune into KETZ DT 12.

WELCOME BACK AETN!!!
Well it wasn't back on the air soon enough! I missed Sondheim's "Company" on Great Performances tonight, and I'm mad as hell.
What a waste of money to return to analog rather than digital.
Analog? That's a strange move. They must be thinking short term to get by.
Alot of the money putting that new analog transmitter and antenna on come from our tax dollars. Educational TV is no longer the value it was back in the 70's and 80's. I'd rather pay for Blue's Clue.
Re: "returning to analog rather than digital:"
The AETN digital signal has been on air all along. This is because the digital antenna was across the highway from KATV's tower and thus, did not collapse.
All AETN is doing is trying to provide service to those customers who watch their signal analog and over the air.
In a related note, I noticed that KATV was back on with a digital, HD, over the air signal this week on 7-1.
Yeah, at very low power.

What is the location of the tower they are using and do you know if they are still on 42-3?
My guess is that it is still on 42-3, reassigned to 7-1. (as there is no 42-3 on my set now.) But, I'm not sure of that.
Transmitting on sub of 42 at 42.3 which really sucks, resolution wise. Re-maps to 7.1 on D* HR20-700 OTA with PSIP if you enter the correct zip code for OTA tuner. Network HD not bad, but local PQ really sucks, for lack of a better term.
