This from a tipster: "Flickinger #2 (George) at KFSM announced on Sunday's 10pm newscast that he's outta there." He said he accepted a position at KJRH in Tulsa.

Wrong Flickinger. George (no relation to Brad) has accepted a full time gig at a Tulsa station. As far as I know Brad is staying with KFSM.
Rumor has it that George Flickinger will be the new weekend morning show met at Channel 2 (KJRH). It will be interesting to see how this 2nd try in Tulsa works out.
George and Brad are brothers. And George was never intended to be full time anyway. He was just a temp until kfsm could find a regular weekend guy.

so when is channel five going to get some real weather people without southern accents and mail order degrees? wait...brad is an ou grad. so that leaves the question: when will channel five get a chief met that has a real degree? hate to tell you garrett but you and every other person on tv with a degree from msu are the laughing stock of meteorology. the fact that you went from a weekend forecaster to a chief met in no time flat says something about your station. but then again this is the station that had jay hilgartner.
I was wondering how much longer this thread would go without a cheapshot at Charles.
I don't think going from weekend to chief in a 100ish market is as big of a deal as it would be in a bigger market. You'll almost NEVER see that happen in a top 50...the only exception being KARK's chief Brett Cummings, it happened to him. I guess it is all about being at the right place at the right time.

Actually what this is really saying is something more about YOUR station. Despite your degrees, seals, winter storms, and longevity... people STILL don't watch you. Chew on that for a while...
OMG....KFSM dominates the news ratings in that market....it's not close, and it's never been close. Only in NWA is it competitive. Whether you like Garrett Lewis or not, and I do....KFSM is and always will be the areas most watched news.....
I agree totally....some people may find 5 News boring, but they have always been steady and reliable. I know a lot of people who will sometimes watch 40/29 for the pizzazz (sp)...but when there's a big story that really matters....they turn to old reliable KFSM.
Credible is the best way to describe KFSM....entertaining is not.:) Like you said.....since 1953! When did 40/29 come along again?? haha
I heard from a reliable source that Garrett Lewis was recently contacted by a head hunter from KOTV. This person said Garrett was very interested, but wasn't sure his current contract would allow a quick jump. This show Garrett has caught the attention of bigger stations....although Tulsa stations frequently recruit from nearby smaller markets.
This is off topic, but "Prison Break" and "24" fans might be interested to know that after airing UPN programming Monday night, KPBI will show "PB" and "24" tonight at 9 and 10.
Well, strickly going on looks for weather..Garrett and Brad DEFINATELY beat out the other stations. Charles and Drew??? BLAH!!!! So who cares if it's a MSU degree or not...didn't Salser learn a crash coarse in weather in the Air Force? That takes a whole 6 weeks or something? WOW!!!! What makes him so much better?

I used to work at 40/29... and I have to take up for Garrett here. This guy is unbelievably nice. One of the friendliest and most cordial guys I have ever known. He has a passion for meteorology that is unsurpassed by many. He will do well for a long time in the business and I wish him continued success.
Changing subjects here...What is up with the Chief Meteorologist opening at KNWA? What is happening to Rick Katzfey?
Off the subject of meteorologists....does anyone know anything about Dale Nicholson, the sports guy on channel 5?
I worked at F****D 23 with Flick a few years back and I have to say you would never find a more committed, intelligent and funny meteorologist. Flick loves his work and it shows in every forecast. God bless you Flickster. This is probably the best hire 2 made in recent years.
I will agree, Garret is one of the nicest guys that I know.I hope he stays around the AR River Valley for many more years to come.
I worked with Garrett at KFSM for 4 years and he's one of the sweetest people alive. He also has great intuition and talent when it comes to weathercasting.
And what's really amazing is how many of you people posting ugly stuff on here about people you know little about, except for gossip you hear about in the newsroom or after the cast at a bar, are probably making less than 30K, angry, lazy and by no means working toward a decent career. Feeling stuck? Jealous? Yeah, we can tell.
