KARK Hires New OSD and New OM/SPM
KARK has hired a new Creative Services Director and a New Operations Manager. KARK-TV Assignment Manager Greg Yarbrough tells ATN: "Our new creative services director is Rob Thomas. He comes to us from WLTX-TV in Columbia, South Carolina where he was marketing manager. He previously worked here at KARK as a reporter and at KTHV in promotions. Our new operations manager/special projects manager is Tim Whitely. He currently is the Production manager at KNWA."

KARK needs to find more creative, operations ways of featuring Jancey Sheats. She rocks !
Ah! Very interesting! Young grasshopper is promoted to larger market. Now the student has become the teacher! Wax on, wax off!
Rob is one of the best promotions' minds to ever come through the market.
Question is, what can you do when about the only thing you have is Jancey Sheats? You don't have a weather department with any credibility, a sports department that doesn't exist and a product the minority of people watch.
How long will Rob stay at this one?
Rob is good, but why go to a company like "Death"star and not stay with Gannett; stupid move!
First of all what is with Greg being the source on all these things... shouldn't he be listening to the scanners and barking orders at people below him?
Some "manager" wasting time to tip off the blogs!!!!
Whitley will do a great job at KARK-TV. He has great ideas, and get things done.
FYI: Greg doesn't send me the info I post on a whim. I e-mail the newsroom and the great folks at KARK are willing to confirm info I have. It's public info and I appreciate KARK answering my e-mails to confirm items before I post. The same goes for KTHV. When I have a question, I e-mail them and they are so generous to spend the minute or two to answer my e-mails. Now for KATV I get no return e-mails. I'm out just to post the news, news about Arkansas TV News.
Tim Whitley is just what KARK needs.
By the way, who ever posted this story, it is Tim Whitley, not Whitely.
Sure it's KARK?,but when they landed Rob they got a good one.I don't understand why THV wouldn;t have tried to fight for him if he was looking to get out of SC.
Because I understand that Rob was a huge part in their look and feel as far as Promotions go.But its the TV biz and we are all recycled one way or another especially in LR.
Sorry to bust your bubble about Rob, but he is a trouble-maker. He is a big whiner and loves to stir the pot. KTHV had him 2 or 3 times and his attitude probably kept him from coming back AGAIN. That chip on his shoulder will hopefully fall soon.
Sorry to bust your bubble but YOUR WRONG!
Rob rocks. And he looks great in a miniskirt.
Rob cares about quality. It's not that KTHV11 doesn't but they care more about inner-politics and who's being nice. They don't want to step on the toes of the old timers think who were there when KTHV11 was such a loser. It was frustrating to Rob and KTHV11 hasn't changed. He wanted to get back to KTHV11 because they have so much to offer and don't know what to do with it. He could make a difference. KTHV11 decided to stay with the current promotion team who thinks--no believes--that Craig O'Neil is the person who will propel them to #1.
If that guy does one more stupid dance or makes another moronic face, I'm going to have to change stations.
I like the guy and he does a pretty good job, but I can only take the goofball stuff so much and I need a break.
Just heard the news.Man o'man am I glad for Rob.I hope thv is scratching their head because Rob will do good work if Nexstar will allow him too.Hey KARK,Don't mess this one up.
KATV'er
I really hate to see Rob go.His record at WLTX is much better than Phillip Fulmers at Tennessee.
Steve Spurrier.
Welcome back to Little Rock, Rob!
Houston's Nut
Ps. Fire Houston Nutt
Rob Thomas at Channel 4?
I thought he was an architect?
Or he was an importer/exporter with Vandalay industries? I think their in latex?
Kramer.
I heard he's doing pretty good with his solo career since he left Matchbox 20. Good luck, Rob.
I don't understand why we are not talking about Whitley. Whitley will do more things postive for KARK than Rob will. You watch, Tim will create a monster at KARK. You just watch!
I love Tim Whitley. Unleashing him at KARK is the best thing Nexstar could have done.
Rob is going to lay the "lunchable" smackdown on KARK! Go Rob!
Thanks for posting Tim.
As a former student from the University of South Carolina, I have had the pleasure of seeing Rob at work at WLTX in Columbia. KARK got a good one. Congrats to Rob on his move up.
Did Rob sleep with that student at South Carolina?
Wake-up people...These two guys are good, but they are working for "Death"star. You can have good ideas, but if your company is not behind you or the company has no money to help you with your projects you are just screwed!
Keli the Sports Babe is good.... I know that !
Keli is much better than Bo. If KARK were smart, they would be giving her more airtime.
Rob is one of the most talented people I have ever worked with.
Rob is decent because he can write. Most of the producers doing what he does don't have the skills that working in a news room give you. He still has his work cut out for him to establish a good marketing plan. Rob worked at THV for 4 years of their 10 year climb. He's been there 3 times. This will be his second trip to kark.
Why does Rob jump around jobs so much?
its because he is over confident. He also is still kinda young. Over time he'll wish he'd stayed somewhere long enough to season something.
