KARK Shuffle

Source: Newsblues Insiders say Perry Chester, general manager of Nexstar's flagship KARK-4-NBC in Little Rock, resigned yesterday in a management shake-up that some believe could lead to more changes soon.

A well-placed source says Chester "had one foot out the door anyway (because) his views completely contradicted those of Nexstar."

Nexstar Regional VP Brian Jones will serve as KARK's interim general manager.

Edited at 1:30 EDT to remove Rick Iler item. I apologize. Newsblues had that on there but removed it at some point.

UPDATE: 1:51pm EDT This from someone on the inside: "Here at the station the rumor is he (Rick Iler) will be the new General Manager or Station Manager."

UPDATE:2:14pm EDT This is how the Arknsas Times blog sums up the situation:

KARK-TV (Channel 4) General Manager Perry Chester was fired yesterday. Friday will be his last day at the station.

We hear that a corporate executive from Nextel Communications, KARK's parent company, will spend 2-3 days a week in Little Rock as an interim G.M. until a full-time replacement for Chester is hired.

Declining sales led to the decision to oust Chester, according to our source.
