We cover the TV News biz of Little Rock and the Ark-La-Tex(Shreveport,LA) AND Northwest Arkansas TOO!

It won't matter. We will forever rule Arkansas.
It doesn't matter if we rule. It still sucks.
Wow. I just saw/heard it for the first time. Very very cheesy.
Every station in Arkansas has lost its originality. 7 and 11 definitely. 4 maybe still has it. But Sinclair and Gannett have done a number on KATV and KTHV. It honestly looks terrible.
4 is original? It's the exact same shows as 16.
What would "Pard" think?
4 looks like small market tv now.
I disagree that 4 looks small market. By pure "looks" I would put 7 on top followed by 4,16 and 11 on bottom. If a stranger came to town, I believe by "looks" they would put them in this order.
I have to agree with the above ranking based on looks. 11 is just so random. Nothing matches. KARK tried to look modern but failed at that, along with 16. 7 has some areas to improve, but their weather center and main desk area look good. I also think their new graphics package looks nice. If you rank the stations by their physical buildings though, 7 is in far last with that dump of a building.
ya'll see former KATVer Karen Fuller got dumped in Kansas City?
4 isn't all that original consider they look identical to KNWA, KTAL, and KTVE. Other markets do the same though. KSLA in Shreveport is purely Raycom graphics wise. I guess KTBS in Shreveport is semi original
I'm an out of towner who checked out Little Rock's market (watched videos on their websites). Every station looks small market. 4 has a good graphics package but Nexstar isn't utilizing it correcty (same package used by large market NBC stations). 11 is awful. I've never seen graphics so bad. 7 is semi-visually appealing but just doesn't look very professional. 16 graphics looked like they were made in Microsoft paint
Easiest way to not look small market? Remove news tickers and stop with the spinning logos.
Tickers are everywhere now so get over that. Spinning logos are as well.
Does anyone remember 11's old rotating box that was displayed in the lower right hand corner of every newscast? It had "11" and "Today's THV" on it. And the time and temperature. That is the only rotating news graphic that I would classify as good.
Tickets and logos really aren't everywhere. Checkout major markets news and you'll see
We are not major market so get over it.
The three corporations that own the network affiliates are cheap. The talent level in the market was better 25 years ago except for weather.
They are considered the worst three owners in the United States.
The talent level in the LR market was better 45 years ago, including weather, and will never be duplicated.
The majority of all owners operate like that now. You need to accept the old days are over.
I wish THV would bring back their old open. Not the old Gannett theme, the one before that one.
@11:20, no they are not all quite as bad as these three. But who cares? It's just a stepping stone town for most of us.
The local tv news viewers in Arkansas should care.
The stations don't care. They put mediocre reporters/anchors on the screen and hardly any news worthy news. All of the little rock stations are guilty of it. It all comes down to money. They all use to be better.
So is every other market out of the top 20. Even that talent is trying to get to network. I would say Little Rock is doing something right because I know a few have left to top 10 markets in the last few yrs.
GOP = $$$$$ = Power = Stupidity.:)
Damn you're dumb.
If you were any good then you woukd not have to settle for a job here in the first place. Stepping Stone Town lol.
That comes from someone who doesn't have $$$$$
GOP guys get the best poontang.
I worked radio news here in the 70s and early 80s and I can tell you the local TV news has steadily declined since then. The quality of content, anchors, and reporters is terrible. For one thing there is too much feature and not enough hard news. I miss the good ole days of "if it bleeds...it leads"
Some people stay in a market because they realize they are in a better situation where they are. Ned once said he had offers in Miami and Dallas. Also, they may not want to uproot their family. Read The Arkansas Democrat about Bob Steel from 1990 to get a historical insight. The discussion is good if some posters overcome their angst.
Damn, Mumbling Matt is "on fire"!!!
I know of at least two anchors who had offers and turned them down to stay here. Not everyone is looking to move on.
Talent = reading off of a prompter. That term always makes me laugh. A surgeon or a rocket scientist has talent - not a talking head.
What two anchors? Shouldn't matter to say if they said no.
Try watching someone who's bad at the prompter. It's harder than it looks. That's why we're in front of the camera and you're not.
Nah, you can train a monkey to read a prompter. There are a very few people at any of the stations who deserve the term "talent" ... they exist, but they are few.
Yeah if Dawn squints any harder she will be able to read what I am reading on my phone as I sit on my couch at home.

Only problem is the so-called talent disappears when they hit the wall. Age kicks talent to the curb. Guess that talent was superficial after all.
Not with the "real" talent, but that is true for most of the women working.
Wonder who the most likely Little Rock "celebrity" would be for a Britt McHenry meltdown? I can think of a few.“I’m in the news sweetheart, I will fng sue this place.”
Janelle for sure
Talent lol. I have officially heard it all now.
Whats harder is watching kthv. Just when you think it can get no worse it does.
Where's Mary Nguyen when we need her? Phoenix will get her meltdown if they haven't already.
Jeanette would probably have had a fake-meltdown just to see if it got her attention.
Wow, so not only is she an absolutely horrible anchor she's also a horrible person? I've seen anchors and reporters come and go in his town for years and even if someone is green you can still tell what kind of anchor/reporter they will become. Janelle is not going to be good, ever. She seems completely uncomfortable (maybe the reason for the constant fake smile) and condescending to both coworkers on air and viewers. Combine those with no ability to make small talk on set when needed and what seems like a general aura of lacking information or intelligence and you have a recipe for disaster. I know it's the weekends and nobody really cares but it is it really wise to put someone so bad on so much?
It is about the money. Not the anchor. Who cares if they can't deliver a good news report? As long as they will stay for the pay, who cares?
The "fake" smile has woked well for Dawn Scott for years. I have never seen a more fake smile in my life. Janelle is running a close second place though.
KTHV graphics cover too much of the bottom portion of the screen. This makes it impossible to see a lot of what the camera person is trying to show the viewer.Apparently management doesn't care.
KARK has not had an original idea since Carl Tibbits left.
KARK has ideas... they are just bad ones.
Tonight, Janelle Lilley gave the 6:00 o'clock and I must say did a very good job. Her delivery was spot on. Also her personal appearance, hair and makeup was the best I've seen her. She truly looked nice. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for your self evaluation, Janelle.
No Mr. 9:24 pm, just my observation and that of giving everyone a chance. Also I get so tired of all the negativism that I thought something "positive" would be a rare breath of fresh air on here. Thank you buddy and have a great day. I know I will.
It was a nice breath of fresh air, but let's keep the kind words for people who deserve them. Even if she had a good day, that doesn't excuse her general attitude.
So who deserves kind words?
Beth, Scott, Chris, Allison, Melinda, Barry, Todd... The good people.
Sinclair is totally douchie.
