In other news, Sarah Fortner just hit another one out of the park. She has been doing an outstanding job.

Really??? The temps are jumping around.

At 12:53 AM, October 28, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Yes, Sarah Fortner definitely killed it. Won't be long before theirs a new Chief Meteorologist at THV.

At 9:29 AM, October 28, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

The only reason that would even be remotely possible is because Ed actually sucks worse than her. They should never be allowed to do severe weather together. Horrible, horrible, horrible.

At 3:40 PM, October 28, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Nope, Sarah does a great job every time and REAL people that she meets love her, not bitter folks on the internet.

At 8:00 PM, October 28, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

I've met her, I know her, she's a great person. She sucks on air.

At 9:36 PM, October 28, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

She does not 'suck' on air. She does just as a good a job as any other weather person in this country.

At 9:41 PM, October 28, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Listen, we know you've got a hard on for her but that is simply not true. Just compare her to anyone at any other station in town. She is probably the weakest meteorologist in the market.

At 9:57 PM, October 28, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

It's her job posted on TVJOBS.COM?

At 10:43 PM, October 28, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

What is this 'weak' meteorology you speak of? Every one of them that I see are exactly the same. They read a bunch of stuff off of a teleprompter or however they do it. None of them are splitting the atom with what they are doing. The only difference between her and the rest that I have seen is that she sometimes stumbles over a word or two. Other than that, what is so different that makes her the worst in town?

At 1:27 AM, October 29, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

The national weather service basically gives her the forecast hours ahead of time to read and current weather in Sarah Fortner's forecasts are always way off and barely knows how to read a live weather radar. That is why when ever there is severe weather or winter weather coming in soon Ed Buckner has to come in and correct everything and tell us where the tornado is located or when the snow or ice will begin.

At 6:21 AM, October 29, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Yeah but she is hot and no one cares about accurate forecasts. Who watches tv for forecasts? Lol... it's right on our phones!

At 7:36 AM, October 29, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

6:21a.m., that's one of the dumbest comments I've ever heard. "No one cares abut accurate forecasts" or "watches TV for forecasts". You must not have been in the path of a tornado like many of us were in April? If I were Sarah, I seriously would be worried about stalkers based on comments on the site.

At 7:45 AM, October 29, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

All meteorologists get there info from the same basic sources. The trick is in getting that info to the viewers in a timely and pleasant manner. This is where Sarah is "weak." Stumbling over words is just the tip of the iceberg. She has a very "deer in headlights" persona a lot on the air. She seems to not understand basic meteorological concepts and and seems to have a hard time explainkng what she is talking about. Pair this with a guy who is overtly condescending and can't talk when excited and you have the worst severe weather team in town. I try to watch all stations during severe weather and I have seen some spectacularly bad stuff from THV.

At 8:15 AM, October 29, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

@7:36, Yeah cuz those weather folks saved so many of the people in the path... oh wait, nope they died. The idea that tv meteorologists help save lives in tornadoes is just ignorant fear mongering.

At 8:42 AM, October 29, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Especially if people are watching THV. They may actually do more harm than good during severe weather.

At 9:59 AM, October 29, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

People do not watch Ned for his accurate forecasts. In reality, his forecasts aren't very accurate at all and he frequently misses things. He plays piano at Christmas though and that's what people remember. So to the poster who said people don't care about accurate forecasts, you are correct.

At 11:48 AM, October 29, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

To 8:15, since you obviously were not in the April tornado like I was, you would not understand factors such as people choosing to take shelter in their homes and being killed instead of risking their lives by trying to drive out of the storm's possible path. I know people who died because they choose to shelter in their homes. I know people who were tired and just wanted to get some sleep and were killed because they did not pay attention to forecasts. I don't have a storm shelter but I followed the TV reports simulcasted on local radio stations to drive out of the storm's path.

8:15, if you were in my shoes in April and had tornado damage at your home, maybe I wouldn't discount your stupidity and lack of credibility. The main reason I'm commenting is hopefully someone can learn to make sure their tornado safety plan is easily adaptable. One loss of live is too many, but I know many who were saved who watched or listened to TV forecasts. I also have neighbors in my rural area who cannot afford a satellite dish or other means to get weather information beside local television stations.

8:15, people may disagree with you. It is okay to learn from them. It may save your life.

People would have more credibility if they said "some" or "many" instead of trying to think everyone shares their opinions. Also, not everyone is able to afford smartphones and many people don't use them. I did use my smartphone in April, but I know that smartphones, as all sources, are limited in the information they can provide.

At 12:04 PM, October 29, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Smartphones can provide way better info than a tv weatherguy any day. They don't gonaway when the power goes out. They don't move on to different areas when they decide you don't need anymore info for your area. I've been in tornados and I've lost property. What's your point?

At 2:51 PM, October 29, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

@11:48, do you know what should have alerted you to take shelter? The friggin' tornado siren blaring outside your window! The meteorologists did not help you one little bit. You were saved because a tornado hit someone else's house instead. That's it.

At 3:58 PM, October 29, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

11:48, you poor soul. I'm feel sorry for you. You obviously don't understand rural Arkansas. I live in a rural area. We don't have sirens because of a lack of population density. Anyway, have you studied the problems with sirens and the complacency they have unintentionally provided.

12:04, some people can't afford smartphones and many elderly people don't have them or would understand how to use them.

I make no apologies for living in a rural area and I feel sorry for both of you. You obviously don't know what you are talking about because you haven't been in my shoes.

At 4:12 PM, October 29, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

And as you said yourself, some people don't have cable tv or satellite. And tvs go out with no power. I have been in your shoes, more than once. Again I ask, what is your point? And try not to be so condescending this time.

At 6:20 PM, October 29, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

4:12, bless your heart, you're too stupid to get it. I will no longer stoop to your ignorance after this comment. For many people, the tv meteorologists are their best and ofte only options. Mentioning smartphones, some people have to choose electricity over a luxury for them as a smartphone. Many people living in poverty, as many Arkansans do, do without phones because they can't afford to pay the bill while feeding their family and paying their electricity so they can watch television and keep their electricity from being cut off.

The next time you want to have an intelligent conversations, refrain from speaking in absolutes. Saltillo is different from Little Rock.

Just because there is a weekend met position on their site does not mean that she is about to get fired. She does great every time she is on there.

At 9:23 AM, October 30, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

@6:20, Can't afford a smartphone but can afford cable/satellite tv, eh? Bahahah... cuz those of us who live in rural Arkansas also know that the rabbit ears aren't going to get you very far! Btw, being older doesn't mean we are stupid. We can figure out smartphones.

Speak for yourself about rural Arkansas and leave the fear mongering to the tv weather people. We are smart, resourceful and fine without them.

At 9:51 AM, October 30, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

@6:20 seriously, just go away. You contradicted yourself numerous times in your posts and overall just don't seem that smart. You complain about lumping a whole group of people together as one and then do the same thing yourself. That makes you either a hypocrite or just stupid. Either way, not worth my time to try and have a discussion with you.

At 6:45 PM, October 30, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

9:23 and 9:51. I said "some" and "many" and did not contradict myself. This whole thing started because of your practice of false consensus effect of saying "no one cares about accurate forecasts" and "Who watches tv for forecasts?". You tried to lump people when you were too lazy to do the research to prove yourself. You are practicing cognitive dissonance because you can't admit you said something that was easily refuted and are trying to blame someone else for the mess you made. The National Weather Service has stated that most people get their weather from local television. Here is the link: http:www.crh.noaa.gov/images/dmx/Preparedness/PDFs/ ReceivingWarnings.pdf

I also clearly stated that some people have local stations as their only source because they can't afford a smartphone or satellite dish. Some people do not know how to use smartphones and don't want to learn. That can apply in Little Rock or Memphis. You are trying to say I said something that I did not say, which is lying on your part. I focused on "some" and "many" and did not lump.

You have to realize the reach of an antenna. Even though I live in central Arkansas, I had a strong enough antenna to watch Memphis and Jonesboro stations along with Little Rock. Then I got a satellite dish. I don't have time to lecture about how I got those stations or Monroe or other markets.

You are a lying coward who is practicing cognitive dissonance by trying to discredit someone who disagrees with an egregiously inane comment you made and tried to apply when you couldn't. I do much esoteric weather research. I would never say all rural people don't know how to use smartphones. I live on the farm where I was raised.
I know one can't speak for all rural people because we are all individuals and each family is a different family.
You need to stick your pacifier back in your mouth and quit whining and make sure your diaper is on tight while you type a feckless response. The issue I have with you is lying and saying I did something I didn't. You need to have a broader availability heuristic because you tried to lump people to your opinion and you should not practice naive realism as a loss aversive reactive devaluation tactic. You have no credibility.

I want to express my thanks to the local meteorologists who were helpful in April, Especially Todd, Keith and Ed. You can't use a smartphone when you are driving out of the polygon so you can be at work the next day because you can't take off due to an emergency.

Some of those big words you're trying to impress us with don't mean what you think they mean.

At 8:06 PM, October 30, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

It must be tough to find a store that will sell something other than a smartphone out there in the country.

At 9:09 PM, October 30, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

@6:45 Oh sweetie, you tried so hard by looking up all those words and trying to use them in a context that worked. I see it took you all day as well. Did you look all those up by yourself or did you have to come up from the basement to ask paw paw to get the big book of words down off the shelf for you?

At 10:21 PM, October 30, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

I love how that person says I have no credibility, except I'm literally a meteorologist that realizes it's moving away from the tv to the phone.

At 7:43 AM, October 31, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

You can literally show people like that all the evidence and they would still argue with you. It's like the old saying goes.....Never argue with an idiot, they'll just try to bring you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

At 10:12 PM, November 02, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

I think i have looked at the numbers and even more importantly, Sarah is loved by everyone she encounters in real life, which is more than can be said for any other meteorologist in this state.

I'm not sure why people think Sarah is so special. She's good looking, but I'd place her in an average-sorority-girl-hot category.

True, it's unfortunate she's no good on the air though.

At 10:20 AM, November 03, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Most people in here are saying that she is good on the air. Also, the ratings do NOT lie. People love seeing her do what she does. She is most importantly a fine christian woman with good morals which is more than i can say for the rest of you in here.

At 10:51 AM, November 03, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Well the ratings say way more people watch Todd over Sarah.

At 6:12 AM, November 04, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Speaking of channel 7, you have to admire their cavalier attitude to election coverage. On the "coffee with candidates" segment they literally brag about not asking any issues-related questions. We aren't electing high school class presidents, just in case you all were unclear on that. When the Buzz's Show with No Name takes it more seriously than a news program, it might be time for a mirror check.

At 9:54 AM, November 04, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

But but but... they have "lead capitol reporter" Janelle on the team! She knows all about politics in Arkansas. Just ask her.

At 6:20 AM, November 05, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Well, I watched 7 last night and they get an D- in my book. Horrible pictures and audio during key speeches, random fails abound, and last on social media for everything.

At 9:17 AM, November 05, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

I agree KATV had some technical problems, but their reporters knew what they were talking about and they were the only ones covering the election. I don't understand where 4 and 11 were. Asleep at the wheel?

I thought Nick and Kenny were, if nothing else, ex-photogs who were going to clean up all of channel 7's horrible technical mistakes. I guess that hasn't materialized yet.

At 10:28 AM, November 06, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

The reason KATV's social presence is so bad is because their social girl spends to much time trying to get on-air and not enough time doing her job. She's not good at either

My Husband left me for another woman, i am so glad that my husband is back today, with the help of Dr Brave, He is Powerful and Genuine, My name is Becky Miller , I live in California,USA. I'm happily married to a lovely and caring husband ,with three kids. A very big problem occurred in my family seven months ago, between me and my husband .so terrible that he took the case to court for a divorce.he said that he never wanted to stay with me again, and that he didn't love me anymore. So he packed out of the house and made me and my children passed through severe pain. I tried all my possible means to get him back, after much begging, but all to no avail.and he confirmed it that he has made his decision, and he never wanted to see me again. So on one evening,as i was coming back from work,i met an old friend of mine who asked of my husband .So i explained every thing to him,so he told me that the only way i can get my husband back,is to visit a spell caster, because it has really worked for him too.So i never believed in spell, but i had no other choice, than to follow his advice. Then he gave me the email address of the spell caster whom he visited.{bravespellcaster@gmail.com}. So the next morning,i sent a mail to the address he gave to me,and the spell caster assured me that i will get my husband back the next day. What an amazing statement!! I never believed,so he spoke with me,and told me everything that i need to do. Then the next morning, So surprisingly, my husband who didn't call me for the past seven 9 months, gave me a call to inform me that he was coming back.So Amazing!! So that was how he came back that same day, with lots of love and joy,and he apologized for his mistake, and for the pain he caused me and my children. Then from that day,our relationship was now stronger than how it were before,by the help of a spell caster. So, i will advice you out there to kindly visit the same website { http://lovespelldrbrave.weebly.com/. } if you have any problem contact Dr Brave ,{ bravespellcaster@gmail.com }, thanks you Dr Brave, i will always be testifying about your good work.
