Gee whiz, now that the sweeps books are once again over the stations in Shreveport have begun touting their ranking...a tipster says....
So what's with the branding promos with the tagline that KSLA is now running as "The Number One Station in the ArkLaTex"
Is this countering KTBS's "Most Watched Station in the ArkLaTex" since 3 edged ahead in the ratings?
Wonder who was at the bottom. I doubt we will see promos that say "We are last...We are last!"

KTAL's slogan could be:
"We're not as bad as we used to be."
Or it could be "We're still number 3."
Both KTBS and KSLA's promotions departments have been doing their jobs by putting out lots of new promos. KTAL is still using promos from 5 or 6 years ago.

Not surprising. I reluctantly switched to KATV several months ago becauae KTHV has become UNWATCHABLE! 7 has better reporters but still has some weak spots. It is what it is.

4:02 PM No, they are not lying. KTAL has been using some promos that are at least 5 or 6 years old. If not older. Since I moved back last July I've seen KTAL run old weather promos with Todd Warren, from when he had brown hair, that I know were running before I left for TCU in 2007.

THV will need MMJ's with actual experience shooting, editing, and reporting to fix what they started. Also Liz has to go, far too obese to be on air.
I stopped watching 11 months ago. The obvious tension between Craig and Ed is uncomfortable. (Ever notice how Ed has to get the last word in at the end of every friggin' show?) Don't watch 7 at 5 PM because they start the show early, and I've already missed the top story(ies) before I can tune in. Actually, liking 4 more and more. Donna's fake sighs and giggles annoy the bejeezus out of me, so don't go there either.

Yep, thats true. The 5:00 PM newscast start at 4:58:30, not straight up 5:00. Once one station started dropping the 1:30 end break of the 4:00 pm show to get on air a little earlier everyone else played follow the leader and started doing the same thing.

4 and 11 showed big improvements over the last book. 4 had a great showing in the evenings and 11 won mornings this time around.

i know i was surprised myself but i saw the numbers myself...while they didnt WIN any categories, thv did show gain in a lot of time slots

Congrats on your 5am win. I'm sure advertisers will be feverishly knocking down your door to spend more money with you now. You did not win 10.

Demos tied at 6am and only a point separating in HHs. But, it doesn't matter right? Humble pie does taste bitter.

Actually, advertisers do buy 5am and it DOES matter. Sorry, the truth hurts. And if 7 had Daybreak billboards and tons of promos,and 11 had no promotion at all, let's see..... I love what happens to those who are arrogant after one good book in November!!!
So what are the numbers? Channel 4 employees want to know because Nexstar is too damn cheap to subscribe to Nielsen or anything else for that matter.
channel 4, rest assured, your book was a laugher, but honestly I'd rather watch your newscast than 11's.
I watch 4 in tbe mornings becausw I work there but lets not spin things. 7 won the 6am hour. 11 won the 5am hour. Most people would say that is a win for 7 because the 6am is MUCH more profitable. Most of the comments about 11 'winning' the morning were made between 1 and 3:30pm which means they were likely made by a desperate morning show person there. My guess is Alyse.
Have any of these numbers been reported by a legitimate news source? A link to an article on Ark Biz or the ADG would be nice.

Alyse Eady is hardly desperate. Sounds like jealousy to me. Don't know Alyse but I don't think desperate is what comes to mind when I think of her.
The ratings must not be that good for channel 11. If they were, there would already by an article written in Arkansas Business.
I sense some big changes are about to be made at KTHV. A new News Director, perhaps? Some talent changes? Something has to happen. Everything they built in the early 2000's has basically been dismantled. The product is absolutely awful.
I agree with the Alyse comment. I hardly think anyone on THV in the morning is desperate. What a laugh.

The poster at 9:49 may be right. I work at the station and our GM is really starting to exert his influence in the product here, which is a good thing. We've been a ship without a captain for too long. Maulden is a nice guy but he's let the news product crumble around him.
Hey, people are always going to talk about Alyse... she got the job by being a beauty queen, so she'll have to live with people constantly reminding her that she didn't earn it.
It's a tough truth, but it's still the truth, and if she doesn't like it she can quit.
The sad thing is Alyse has more talent than some people who have a few years under their belt. If you are 1st runner up in Miss America and then invited to be on David Letterman, MSNBC, etc, I'm sure she is used to the green monster throwing stones at her.
Alyse has talent, just not tv personality talent. She's gotten better on air since she started but she is far from good. And getting the job the way she did there will always be people who condemn her for it and rightly so.
I'm a channel flipper in the mornings but always seem to land back up on 11. I find Alyse and Ashley to be engaging and down-to-earth, and Tom is a joy with his sense of humor. Kudos to them for a great book.
Absolutely, she can listen to the jeers for the rest of her career. There are consequences for poor and unfair decisions, and she'll have to live with them.
Consequences? The only bad thing she has coming her way is being associated with Gannett. Besides that, I'd imagine she's doing pretty well for herself and probably making what I wish I was. They don't pay us worker bees much at 16.
It's interesting that the ownership bashing on here lists 4,7,11 and 16. What's left? Where will you go to work that you will be happy? Oh wait, maybe you should just getb out of the business.

I don't care what comes out of the mouths of Beth Hunt, Alyse Eady, Wendy Suares, or Lauren Clark because they are eye candy to the max. THE finest ladies Little Rock has to offer.

Look spin it anyway you want but 11and 4 had HORRIBLE books. The morning wasn't great for 11 with 7 winning the 6 AM but the real problems were later. 11 saw big drops at 5 and 6 if you compare the February 2010 to 2011 numbers. 11 was a close second to 7 at ten despite the fact that CBS lead-ins dominated ABC. KARK saw drops almost everywhere and I really think their slick but SCARY promos are not helping. I'm in media sales and I can tell you how management feels. 7 is fairly happy, 11 and 4 are bummed, and Fox is pleased. 16's ratings are still low but at least they are seeing growth while the other stations are losing viewers in most shows. Again you have to compare these February numbers to last February, that is what advertisers care about.
I'm sorry I meant to say you need to compare the 2011 to 2012 books.
THV in the morning was up from Feb of 2011 and that was Alyson's last book there. Check your facts before you post please.
If you want to get technical, THV morning show HH rating was up 37% from Feb of last year and 34% from November. I agree you should check your facts before you pretend to know it all. KATV was flat Feb to Feb.

Back to the Alyse comment, I did mean she DOES have more tv personality talent/co-anchor newsreader talent, than a lot of people in this market with more experience. Either you have it or you don't.

This thread was about KTBS 3 in Shreveport for the first 4 posts then in was highjacked by Little Rock.
Guess Shreveport folks don't have any intel on the original question: Who's #1 and show the numbers !!!
But then again, L.R. is a bigger mkt and much more competitive than any of the Shreveport stations. Could be why there's always more talk about L.R.
We don't care because we already knows who is #1 in Shreveport ratings.
You too should check facts. KATV was up Feb to Feb, both during the 5a and 6a. Funny when 11 has a dismal book, nothing is said, but let them make some noise and you can't shut them up.
We all get the same numbers and can see everyone's info. It's true that 11's morning show numbers were up quite a bit from last February while 7's numbers are down, according to the year-to-year numbers. Facts are facts. I get so tired of people trying to skew information. Suck it up and do better next time.

6:50, 1:24 never said THV's morning show was down from February 2010. He/she said they just didn't win the 6am hour. The other shows were down according to that post. It's called reading comprehension.
I assume when they said they were down at 5 and 6 they meant 5 and 6 in the evening...because they go on to talk about the 10p show afterwards.

If your rating point is up and your share is down, that means you are down. Boys and girls, your share is the percentage of the audience watching you. You can have a higher rating and a lower share based on the HUT for that time period. And if THV was up 37% I don't think that is "dismal."

I think 1:34 was refering to THV's November book.
I think dismal may be a bit strong, but losing ground at 5,6, & 10 is not good. THV should be more competitive and with their leadins there is no excuse not to win at ten.
My station has the brilliant strategy of not getting the ratings. Can someone please tell me who actually WON the shows. I don't care about demos even if sales does. I'm a journalist and actually just care who is getting the most viewers. I don't care if they are between 25 and 54. Does someone actually have the numbers?
The numbers should be out soon. It doesn't matter how THV tries to spin em, KATV won everything but 5 am.

I didn't see this coming. Beginning Monday, KTAL will begin outsourcing a noon news cast from KARK. "Arkansas Today" will run from 12-12:30 with a "paid programming" segment from 12:30-1. Days of Our Lives and Rachel Ray have been pushed back an hour while We The People (court show) has been canceled.
Good idea, but if KTAL is going to have a 30 minute noon time Arkansas newscast they need to add a 30 minute Texas newscast immediately following to balance it out. KTAL has just as many viewers in Texas as in Arkansas. After all KTAL is licensed out of Texarkana Texas.

KATV won everything but the 5am hour of daybreak. They are undoubtedly still the #1 station in Little Rock but I still think KARK has the best product.
