Any word on when KSLA will have an anchor to fill Carl Pendley's seat?
Chances are they won't fill it anytime soon... if their numbers stay the same. (Some may argue that they're waiting to see the numbers sans Pendley...there's a bet in the newsroom that they might even go up in his absence).
There's rumors that it's already filled with a guy from North Carolina,coming in just before Shannon Royster goes on maternity leave next month.
Guess first order of business is trying to find a new weekend anchor..
New weekend anchor where? Who's leaving? KSLA is advertising for a reporter.
Weekend Anchor would be at KTAL after Joe Arena was fire last week.
Please move the morning anchor to the weekends. When is Paula Van Drease leaving?
I agree, move her to weekends or something, she isn't that great!
"isn't that great" is definitely an overstatement when it comes to Ms. VanDrease. Could she make KTAL's morning show any more awkward?
I heard KTAL's new guy hasn't changed a single thing, but keeps asking for more. SWEET!!! Make everybody think you are here to make things better and then not do anything? Looks like hope is lost again, NEXT!!! NEXT!!!
I heard that the new guy us cracking down on the laziness at the station. Might be a refreshing change. I've watched webpage and seen a difference there alone. We shall see how long it takes before the lazy folks are gone or fired. Its about time. Anyone know more about his past job?
Lazy people? So KTAL hired a guy to fired all the people so beaten down by that pathetic station. Looks a news room leader would inspire and lead by example? OR just micro-manage and push underpaid people harder until than either work for nothing or quit.
May was the hardest any employee has ever worked and show me the numbers? Maybe its the on-air lack of communication. VERY HARD TO WATCH IN THE EVENING!
Lets not start about the mornings. Paula Van Dreese is so bad. Please stop her.

Its the nature of the business. You have to work hard and establish your credibility. Change in ratings will never happen overnight but the only way you get better ratings is by giving a crap about your newscast and making it the best you can.
And let's face it. Low pay in tv is everywhere. We do this job because you either love journalism or love to see yourself on air.
I wish we could all get big bucks, but if you want it, either go to a bigger market or leave the business.
Otherwise shut up and stop complaining.
YOUR RIGHT! The pay is bad across the board, but KTAL has made lame hires and overpaid for anchor talent then skimped on everything else.

Is it true Paul Bergen from KBTV is the new News Director at KTAL? If this is true then KTAL needs to brace for the worse. Paul took a solid number two station in Beaumont Tx and drove it into the ground.
Sweet!!! Makes sense too me. I have also heard his news judgement was par to poor. Maybe he can drive KTAL into the 4th spot behind PBS?
I watched a little bit of the news this weekend, and whoever was filling in did a good job, very unlike KTAL
