Same Story, Different Station

Is this a sign it's getting difficult to come up with original "sweeps stories"?

An e-mailer sent in this: "KTHV did a story last night (May 16) about the Kenda Drive-In in Marshall I think. KATV did the story first 1 year or so ago about the same place. THV even had similar shots of the old drive-in on Asher.Seems funny that waited thinking no one would remember KATV did it first."

There was a time when you would see a guest on KATV's Good Morning Arkansas and a week or two later they'd be on KTHV. Caller ID quickly answered this riddle. KATV got a call wanting to know about a guest, the conversation went something like this

"Ma'am do you work at KTHV"

"ehhh, no why"

"Just curious becasue my caller id says your calling from KTHV"

"ehhhh" click.

But KTHV isn't the only one that does it. Usually stories are stolen from other markets. Just look at KATV's internet sting. They stole that from Karen Fuller's new station in Kansas City (Fuller's team did it much better)

Sounds to me like a KATV employee is miffed THV did the story becasue they probably did it better and will get better ratings with it.

Katv will loose more reporters and the time slot that claims that made them the news leader so why are they trailing the other stations and they are number 2 and they need to go back to school and re-educate them selves on stop being stupid.

KATV need to take lessons from KARK and THV on how to do news stories and they don't do such a good job.

Re: guests on GMA appearing on Today's THV...

That's funny... we usually schedule guests first -- and before KATV gets its act together. There's something to be said for a good morning show with the same crew and cast over 7-8 years.
