KSLA Hires Atlantic City Sports Dude


Source: KSLA News Director, Jayne Ruben of KSLA-TV 12 has named Mike Dirmann Sports Director/Anchor effective Thursday, March 17, 2005 in conjunction with the kickoff of college basketball’s big dance. Ruben says, “I am excited to have Mike join the KSLA News 12 team in time for March Madness. He is energetic, enthusiastic, and ready to tackle sports coverage in the Ark-La-Tex.”

Mike Dirmann comes to Shreveport from Atlantic City , New Jersey where he was the Sports Director at WMGM, the NBC affiliate for 5 years. Mike graduated from Washington & Lee University in Lexington , Virginia in 1998 with a degree in Broadcast Journalism. He began his broadcast news career as a sports intern at WBSV-TV in Sarasota , Florida .

Mike is looking forward to the challenge of replacing Linnea Fayard on the anchor desk, who after 3 years, has chosen to leave KSLA to pursue other interests

Viewers can catch Mike Dirmann in action now covering all of the March Madness tournament excitement. He can also be seen anchoring sports weeknights at 6:00 and 10:00 PM during regularly scheduled broadcasts of KSLA News 12.
