Next Stop FCC for Sinclair/Allbritton Deal

Sinclair is this/close to finalizing the deal to purchase Allbritton's TV stations.  It has nearly been a year since the pending deal was announced.  An article in the Wall Street Journal states Sinclair has agreed to settle a lawsuit from the Justice Department requiring it to divest one of the seven stations it has agreed to purchase.  The deal paves the way for approval from the FCC.  On July 29, 2013 Sinclair announced its intent to purchase:

  • WJLA: Washington, DC
  • WBMA/WCFT/WJSU: Birmingham, Ala.
  • WHTM: Harrisburg, Pa.
  • KATV: Little Rock, Ark.
  • KTUL: Tulsa, Okla.
  • WSET: Roanoke, Va.
  • WCIV: Charleston, S.C.
