New GM Named for Shreveport Station
Raycom Media has named a Louisiana native to head KSLA/Channel 12/Shreveport. Joe Sciortino will becomes Vice President and General Manager following the retirement of James Smith. Sciortino comes to the ArkLaTex from Hattiesburg, MS where he held the same job title at the Raycom station there.
Prior to moving to Mississippi Sciortino was General Sales Manager at KAIT-TV in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Sciortino's first day at KSLA will be April 4th.
Little Rock Reporter Pushed to the Ground Following Court Appearance of a Hot Springs Judge
Seems supporters of a Garland County Circuit Court judge don't won't reporters getting near him. According to a report from Arkansas Online supporters of Garland County Circuit Court Judge Wade Naramore were attempting to keep the media away from the suspect when KARK reporter Marci Manley was knocked to the ground in an elevator following Naramore's court appearance Friday.
KARK news director Austin Kellerman said in an email: "After reviewing the
footage and speaking with our journalists involved in the incident,
we're currently in the process of filing a complaint. We don't have
plans to file charges."
Shreveport GM Announces Retirement
KSLA/Channel 12/Shreveport General Manager James Smith says he will retire at the end of March. Smith has been in the broadcast television industry for 41 years and at Channel 12 since 2006.
A news release on the station's website says Smith began his career as a reporter at the CBS Television Station in Corpus
Christi, Texas after graduating from the University of Texas. He taught
Journalism at Texas A&M University and was an award winning News
Director and Anchorman at KPLC-TV in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Prior to
coming to KSLA-TV, Smith was Vice President and General Manager at
WWAY-TV in Wilmington, NC.
Smith's last day at the station will be March 31st.
KATV Anchor Says Goodbye to TV News
KATV/Channel 7/Little Rock anchor Scott Inman ended his 17 year tenure with the station Tuesday. Inman announced in November 2016 he would be leaving the station to spend more time with his family. Inman says he will be joining the GenWealth Financial Advisors as director of business development. The station aired a special video montage of his career at KATV. You can find the video HERE.
Special Goodbye Planned for Long Time KATV Anchor
KATV/Channel 7/Little Rock will air a special goodbye highlighting the career of long time anchor Scott Inman. Inman announced late last year he was leaving the station after 17 years at the ABC affiliate. It is reported he will be joining the GenWealth Financial Advisors as director of business development. The special goodbye look back will air on Inman's last newscast tonight at 10pm.
KTHV Met Leaves The Natural State
KTHV/Channel 11/Little Rock weekend met Sarah Fortner has officially left the station. Fortner announced earlier this year she was leaving The Natural State for the NBC affiliate in Charlotte, NC. Fortner's last day was February 28th.
